Welcome to the SGAUS Recruiting and Retention Academy.
The strength of any volunteer force is not measured by its regulations or equipment, but by the quality and commitment of the men and women who serve within its ranks. Recruiting is critical for growth; however, without active, professional retention, our efforts are wasted, and attrition becomes an insurmountable challenge.
Our mission in this Academy is to equip you with the specialized knowledge to master this dynamic, known as the “Two Sides of the Coin.” This involves moving beyond simply generating leads to strategically engaging prospects, standardizing our professional vocabulary, and most importantly, recognizing the true value of the volunteer.
This rigorous curriculum integrates FEMA’s core incident management principles (IS-100, 200, 700, 800) with advanced strategies in force generation. Crucially, we mandate training in Family Readiness Awareness and Behavioral Health Awareness. We understand that a volunteer’s continued service relies heavily on a supportive home environment and the knowledge that their leadership is trained to listen and value their voice.
Upon completion of these academic and practical requirements, you will earn the SDF Recruiting & Retention Badge, certifying you as a Certified Recruiting and Retention Specialist (CRRS). You will be empowered as a key leader responsible for the growth, sustainability, and morale of our vital forces.
