The Michigan Defense Force (MIDF) recently met with several state legislators in Lansing, Michigan, to discuss the MIDF’s mission, current operations, and budget priorities for training and equipping service members.
The MIDF plays a critical role in supporting the Michigan National Guard and providing essential services during emergencies, natural disasters, and times of need. The meetings provided MIDF leaders with an opportunity to highlight recent achievements, share future goals, and emphasize the importance of adequate resources to ensure that members are properly trained and equipped to serve the people of Michigan.
“Our mission is clear: to stand ready when Michigan needs us most,” said MIDF Commander LTC Jeff Steinport. “Meeting with legislators is an important step in ensuring they understand the value the Defense Force brings to communities across the state and the need for strong support in training and equipping and managing resources.”
Legislators expressed appreciation for the force’s commitment and sacrifice, noting the importance of maintaining a reliable and well-prepared State Defense Force to complement the state’s emergency response capabilities.
The Michigan Defense Force will continue to engage with state leaders as it advances its mission of readiness, service, and support to the citizens of Michigan.
