While this program certifies your initial proficiency, it is highly recommended that awardees maintain current military and OSHA HazMat physical standards to ensure an optimum and active force capable of meeting the rigorous demands of real-world scenarios. Our philosophy, “Train as We Fight,” underscores the importance of continuous engagement; therefore, active participation in exercises and ongoing training with the SDF, National Guard, or other HazMat professionals is strongly encouraged. This includes hands-on experience with various decontamination procedures, processes, methods, and equipment. Finally, the distinctive triangle branding of this badge, reminiscent of the Emergency Response Guide and our historical response to atomic/nuclear threats, will become a recognized symbol of expertise and dedication, much like the esteemed Civil Defense patch.
